FAQ

Dates & festival hours

Dates for “The Great Escape 2007” are:

Thurs 5th April: 2pm – 10pm (CAMPERS ONLY)
Fri 6, Sat 7, Sun 8 April: 9am – 12 midnight for day-trippers (entertainment until 3am for campers)
Mon 9 April: All campers off site by 12 noon

Wristbands, ID & entry

Your entry wristband will also act as your Passout, so keep it on. They are not transferable. Don’t show up drunk or out of it as we’ll have to tell you to go back home, even if you hold a ticket. We have the right to refuse entry.

You need to be 18+ and hold valid and current photo ID (a passport, licence or proof of age card) to be able to buy a drink.

Phone coverage & ATMs

There will be ATMs on site, open from 10am until 11pm daily. There is mobile phone coverage at the Armory, but no payphones.

First aid & security

Big crowds are no place to be if you’re under the influence of mind-altering substances of any kind, including alcohol. Please don’t be scared to ask festival staff or St John’s Ambulance officers for help.

Please consider others as well as your own safety, especially in front of the stages. If someone falls down or is in distress please help them if you can, or let the Security know so we can help.

Forget trying to sneak in: the Armory has permanent, high fencing.

No stage diving, crowd surfing or moshing. Moshers risk being ejected from the festival grounds.

In the extreme and unlikely circumstance that an area of the Armory may be required to be evacuated or cleared, it’s imperative you to follow all instructions from emergency services, police, the fire brigade and/or our security.

Mossies

Bring your mossie repellent, especially if you’re camping, as they do like to bite occasionally over at the Armory. See some tips on protecting yourself from them here.

Lost property

Lost property that’s handed in during the festival will be taken to the Coat Check counter. After the weekend, contact us at admin@thegreatescape.net.au, and, if we have it, we’ll return it to you.

Noise complaint hotline

Our noise complaint. This is only in operation during the festival.

Bringing kids?

Children 15 and under get free entry into the festival – if you look like you might be 16, you’ll need to being ID (a passport, birth certificate) to prove your age. The Great Escape” is an all-ages event – if 15 and under, you must be accompanied by a legal guardian (ie: a family member 18+, or someone who your parents have given permission to be responsible for you).

Video, cameras, recording devices

Standard, non professional ‘point and shoot’ cameras (digital/SLR) are fine to bring into the festival; video cameras, audio recorders, tripods and professional still cameras (eg: those with zoom lenses) are not – if you bring these in, you risk them being confiscated. Professional photographers must contact our Media department for accreditation.
