SYDNEY’S ONLY LIVE-IN FESTIVAL, THE GREAT ESCAPE, RETURNS IN 2008

Having finally brought the global tradition of ‘live-in’ festivals to Sydney in 2006 and 2007, THE GREAT ESCAPE returns for its THIRD YEAR in 2008 - with the grounds of Newington Armory once again playing host to a jam-packed, long weekend of music, camping and more.
This year THE GREAT ESCAPE will move to a new date, the first weekend in October - the ‘Labour Day’ Long Weekend. THE GREAT ESCAPE will be kicking off the 2008-09 Festival season with a bang, seizing the opportunity to be the party starter - and avoiding the Festival fatigue that sets in as the season grinds to a close at Easter.
You can expect another sensational line-up of leading international and Aussie acts over three non-stop days and nights. In 2006 and 2007, THE GREAT ESCAPE presented artists such as SILVERCHAIR, WOLFMOTHER, SIGUR ROS, BERNARD FANNING, ESKIMO JOE, GOMEZ, THE ROOTS, MISSY HIGGINS, THE HILLTOP HOODS, FEMI KUTI, THE VINES, JOHN BUTLER TRIO, OPERATOR PLEASE, THE LEMONHEADS, THE LIVING END and many, many more. In addition to the music bill, THE GREAT ESCAPE also features an on-site camping village plus Cabaret, Comedy, Cult Cinema, Markets, Record & Collectables Fair , Sunrise Yoga, Art & Music Workshops, Waterfront Beer Garden & loads more.
